Frequently asked questions

What Sales Tax rates can I use for United States?

The generator offers , and you can type a custom rate. These are starting values last checked on 2026-10-26. There is no federal VAT. Enter the combined state and local sales tax rate for where the sale is taxed.

Do I need my EIN on the invoice?

It is optional in United States, but adding it makes the invoice look more complete. The generator checks the format if you add it.

Can I enter prices that already include tax?

Yes. Choose "Including Sales Tax" and the generator works the tax back out of each price, so the total equals the prices you entered.

Is this a government e-invoice?

No. It creates a PDF invoice for you to send. United States does not require a government e-invoicing system for most small businesses, but check if that changes.

Where is my invoice data stored?

Only in your own browser. Nothing is uploaded, and the generator works offline after the first visit.
