Freelancer invoice template

Freelance work lives and dies by cash flow, and a clear invoice is the quickest way to get paid on time. This freelancer invoice template keeps the essentials front and centre: what you did, how long it took, what it costs and exactly how the client can pay you.

It works for writers, designers, translators, developers, marketers and anyone who bills by the project or by the hour. Add your logo, choose hours or fixed-price lines, and switch tax off if you are below your country's registration threshold. The invoice keeps a running number on your device, so you never reuse an invoice number by accident.

Frequently asked questions

Should a freelancer charge GST or VAT?

Only if you are registered (or required to register) in your country. Below the threshold, use the Without Tax edition and add a short 'not registered' note.

Hourly or fixed price on the invoice?

Use whatever you agreed. The Service / Hourly template labels the columns as hours and hourly rate; for fixed-price work use one line per deliverable.

Can I add a late payment clause?

Yes. Put it in Terms, for example 'Late payments may attract interest as allowed by law'. Check what your local law permits.
